Electronic Ordering Services

As part of our ongoing effort to improve our service and
value to our customers, Midway Industrial Supply is proud
to offer "The Trakker" Inventory Management System.
The program is available to a customer with the potential
to order $20,000 or more of parts from Midway annually. Customers
enjoy a significant reduction in overall acquisition costs
because this process typically:
- Saves money by reducing the costly and time consuming
process of requisitions, purchase orders, approval, etc.
- Controls ordering, receiving, and payable costs.
- Reduces ordering errors.
- Saves money by reducing stockroom inventory by JIT delivery.
- Reduces plant downtime by having the right part at the
right time.
How the system works:
- Each Midway sourced item inventoried by the customer will
have a bin location with a bar coded "Kan Ban"
card in it, which will show a reorder point and release
quantity (set by the customer).
- At regular intervals a designated employee reviews the
inventory and scans all the "To be ordered" cards
into the data collection device and places the cards in
an "ordered" file.
- The data collection device (the Trakker) is connected
to a phone line while not being used. At a regular prearranged
time Midways Customer Service person will call and
download your order into Midways computer.
- If ordered before 2:30 p.m., the order is shipped the
same day via common carrier to the attention of the department
which placed the order. Your designated employee then matches
the "ordered" cards to the Midway packing list
while placing the parts and "Kan Ban" card in
the proper parts bin.
Implementation of the System:
- Work with the customer to analyze purchases to minimize
on-site inventory.
- Work with the customer to set reorder points and release
quantities: the customer has complete control of these quantities.
- Supply a hand held data collection device (Trakker) with
a bar code reader.
- Produce bar coded "Kan Ban" cards as needed.
- Train customer personnel to use the system.
- Fax back acknowledgements of orders if desired.
- Provide quarterly and annual usage reports.
- Invoice once monthly with terms of Net 10 days.
